Kent Bill of Rights 2024

We, the citizens of the Kent Confederal Republic, in pursuit of liberty, justice, and the protection of individual rights, establish this Constitution to safeguard the inherent dignity and freedoms of each individual, and to form a just and equitable government that upholds the principles of freedom, self-defense, and self-governance.

Article I
Fundamental Principles

Section I

(Sovereignty and Autonomy)

The Kent Confederal Republic is a sovereign and independent entity, composed of its citizens and territories. The authority of the government is derived from the consent of the governed, and its primary duty is to safeguard the rights and liberties of its citizens.

Section II

(Individual Rights and Liberties)

The rights and liberties of individuals shall be considered inviolable and shall not be infringed upon by any government action, collective decision, or legislative process, regardless of its democratic nature.

Article II
Freedom of Expression and Assembly

Section I

(Freedom of Speech and Expression)

Every citizen shall have the right to freedom of speech, expression, and the press. This right includes the freedom to hold opinions, convey information, and engage in peaceful public discourse without fear of censorship or retribution as long as such speech, opinions and expression are not in violation of fundamental foundations and principles or does not seek to oppress or undermine the freedoms of others through the use of the State or Mob Rule.

Section II

(Freedom to Peacefully Assemble)

The right of the people to peacefully assemble and associate with others shall not be abridged. Citizens have the right to gather in public spaces for the purpose of expressing their opinions, ideas, and grievances without unwarranted interference.

Article III
Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Right to Rebel

Section I

(Right to Self-Defence)

The right of citizens to keep and bear arms for the purpose of self-defence and protection of one's life, liberty, and property shall not be infringed.

Section II

(Militias and Paramilitary Groups)

Citizens have the right to form and maintain paramilitary and militia groups independent of the state, with the aim of safeguarding the rights and liberties of the people. Such groups shall operate within the bounds of the law and uphold the principles of the Constitution and civil order. The people also have the right to take up arms to rebel against the government if it becomes tyrannical, oppressive or violates any section of the Constitution.

Section III

(Counter-Balance to the National Army)

Militias and paramilitary groups shall serve as a counter-balance to the national army, ensuring that the government cannot pacify the people using military force.

Article IV
Protection of Individual Rights

Section I

(Protection against Democratic Infringement)

No democratic process, including referendums and elections, shall be used to infringe upon the fundamental rights and liberties of individuals. The collective will of the majority shall not violate the rights of the minority.

Section II

Government legislation, bills, and laws shall not infringe upon the rights and liberties of individuals as enshrined in this Constitution. Any such legislation that contradicts these rights shall be deemed null and void.

Article V

Only citizens who are over the age of 21 and are taxpayers shall have the legal right to vote in elections at the borough, regional, and national levels.

Article VI

Article VIII
Armed Forces Act and Disbandment

Section I

(Armed Forces Act of 2024)

The National Armed Forces must be established through the passage of the Armed Forces Act at the beginning of every new election term. Failure to pass the Armed Forces Act will render the National Armed Forces illegal, and they must disband immediately.
